As Narcissus leaned closer to the pool, gazing into its depths, his breath caught sight of the face staring back at him.

“You’re the apple of my eye,” he whispered, unaware that the one he adored was merely a reflection of himself. To him, it was a perfect being—flawless, radiant, and enchanting, yet forever beyond his reach.

He didn’t know the love he longed for was impossible, for how could he grasp what was only a mirror of his own form? Each time his fingers brushed the surface, the image dissolved, only to return moments later, as captivating as ever. Blinded by his obsession, Narcissus wasted away, consumed by a beauty he could never truly hold.

“And because you’ve been so good to poor old Granny, I’ll share a secret with you. This is no ordinary apple, it’s a magic wishing apple.”
